Go Platinum was conceived after Marqueta Tyson, an entertainment attorney, met potential clients in the entertainment industry and found that many of them were working without contracts, or the contracts that they had were not in their best interests. She also found that many aspiring artists, managers and producers did not know basic industry practices like copyrighting, points or residuals. Although Hampton Roads already has an established and vibrant entertainment community, there was no connectivity. Local artists seemed to believe that they had to go to New York in order to “get a deal”. They did not know where to obtain quality local legal representation or what their Hampton Roads peers were doing professionally. “My goal is to share this knowledge in a positive and supportive environment”, said Marqueta. “This year’s Go Platinum will focus on three things”, she explained, “The Money…The Talent … and The Exposure.”
Go Platinum also offers intern opportunities for local college students. The internships are designed for area college students to gain experience in event coordination and management. “Going Platinum is a mindset,” said Marqueta. “It’s about achieving excellence at all levels, that’s why I wanted to involve college students as well as the community.”
The Tyson Legal Team, PLC is a law firm that focuses on protecting the rights of athletes and entertainers through contract drafting and negotiating deal review and resolving intellectual property issues. The firm also handles criminal, traffic/DUI, employment, business, divorce and personal injury matters.

When bad things happen to good people, they call The Tyson Legal Team headed up by Attorney Marqueta Tyson. Marqueta helps people resolve some of life’s most difficult challenges: criminal charges, traffic/DUI infractions, employment, business, divorce and personal injury matters. She also protects the rights of athletes and entertainers through contract drafting and deal negotiations.
Marqueta received her BA in Mass Media Arts from Hampton University. She went on to Syracuse University were she received an MA from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Radio/Television. She returned to Hampton University to teach Broadcast Journalism and Television Production in the Mass Media Department.
After her tenure at Hampton, Marqueta joined GE in its Marketing Communications Department were she developed and implemented communications plans and strategies. Later, she founded Pulse Communications a marketing communications/public relations firm. Her company solved communications and image related problems for Fortune 500 Companies and non-profit organizations.
In 1995, Marqueta decided to change careers and fulfill a long-term dream. She went to law school. She is a 1998, graduate of Case Western Reserve School of Law. As a law student she was elected President of the Law School’s student body and delivered the student commencement address.
During her legal career, she worked at two large law firms in Cleveland, Ohio, Benesch Friedlander and Brouse McDowell. So far, her largest victory is a $6.4 million jury verdict in Federal District Court (co-counsel).
In June of 2003, she founded The Tyson Legal Team and Pulse Sports and Entertainment Management.
Marqueta is licensed to practice law in Ohio and the Commonwealth of Virginia. She is a certified NFL Player’s Association Contract Advisor and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Pulse Sports & Entertainment, PLC provides the event planning, coordination and management for the Go Platinum Entertainment Convention.
Pulse focuses on event planning, marketing, crisis management and image enhancement for athletes and entertainers. Pulse assists them with all aspects of their career both on and off the field or stage. Pulse helps them develop additional income streams by creating and negotiating endorsement opportunities. Pulse investigates and analyzes their business opportunities. Pulse provides crises management for legal issues and publicity nightmares.
